AI Use Disclosure

1. Purpose of this Disclosure

This disclosure explains how, when, and why Purple Shirt & Elemental Concept uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and services including generative AI tools to support the delivery of its services.

2. Use of AI

AI is used to support our work—not to replace human judgment. We may use AI to accelerate and enhance quality and efficiency in the following areas.

Consultancy Work

  • Analysing, summarising and synthesising data collected as part of our services, such as interview transcripts, survey data, research notes and user requirements where all personal information has been removed.
  • Augmenting content creation for project deliverables, or summaries from meetings and workshops.

Experience Design

  • Rapid prototyping of concepts, services, and experiences to support design and innovation workImage generation and conceptual design exploration for ideation, concept development, and presentation purposes.
  • Research synthesis, including summarising interviews, survey data, reports, and desk-based findings.
  • Desk-based research to explore markets, users, competitors, technologies, and emerging trends etc.

Development Work

  • Code productivity: generating code, auto completing and assisting with planning for implementation.
  • Quality assurance: test case generation, defect triage, log analysis, performance tuning suggestions.
  • Documentation & enablement: creating or updating API docs, READMEs, runbooks, and training materials.
  • Solution discovery: architectural options summaries, technology comparisons, backlog/user story expansion.
  • Data workflows: data mapping, transformation recommendations, SQL generation, and data quality checks.
  • Support operations: drafting release notes, change logs, and stakeholder communications.

We avoid uploading confidential, personal, or sensitive data to AI tools by default. Where such processing is necessary and proportionate, we will:

  • Notify you in advance.
  • Were possible within any given tool disable training on your data.
  • Apply data minimisation, masking, or synthetic data where feasible.

3. Automated Decision Making

We do not rely exclusively on AI to make decisions. Where AI provides insights or recommendations, a human professional remains responsible for reviewing and approving final outputs.

4. Data Protection & Confidentiality

We handle your information under our confidentiality obligations, MSA/SOW, and Privacy Notice.

When AI tools are used, we apply strict security controls to protect your information, including when it interacts with AI systems. No customer data is used in a manner that would expose confidential, sensitive, or personal information beyond the original purpose for which it was provided.

As a default all PII data is removed before using any AI tools.

5. Quality Assurance & Limitations

AI systems can produce inaccurate or incomplete suggestions. Our processes include peer review, automated tests, static analysis, and—where relevant—security scans to validate outputs.

6. Your Choices and Controls

Should you have specific requirements around with the use of AI tooling on projects for your organisation then please contact us for a discussion.  We can accommodate your requirements, but they need to be clearly stated and may have cost implications.

7. Updates to this Disclosure

We may update this disclosure at any time at our discretion. We will post the latest version here and notify active clients where material changes affect ongoing projects.
